People suffering from any mental illness, how minor it could be, can face many issues. These people are not only vulnerable on the streets but most of them are experiencing other serious problem even if they are under their own roof.

This is a common occurrence in households with a person dealing with mental issues. The matter gets worse since there is very little support coming from the community when it comes to housing options and other long-term care solution offered to them.

With that said, those who are suffering from mental health condition is on a tight spot. This situation also put those mentally-challenged people in a situation where they are less likely to be understood by others.

It is very important that mental health workers, family members and other individuals who are involved knows the limit and capabilities of their fellow that is dealing with mental challenges. However, there are times that the situation is too much to handle and they put both themselves and their loved ones at risk if the situation is left unchecked.

In serious cases, there are few reports that show aggression exhibited by those who needed mental health care. In this kind of situation, it is recommended to seek professional care.

With the current system that we got, it is not easy to get a hold of a long-term solution for patients with violent tendencies. To give you an insight, here’s what the usual process is.

The patient, in most cases, were sent to the hospital to get a temporary treatment until the aggressive behavior worn off. Usually, if the family faces this matter, a court order is issued for a mental evaluation and admission.

Of course, dealing with court orders requires a mental health attorney that will lead both parties to the right track. After everything is settled and all of the necessary steps are in motion, only then that the patient will be placed in a special housing that will look after our loved ones that are experiencing mental health issues.

If all goes well, the risk of violence will be cleared up and special attention will be placed to the patient. If not, the family will go back to zero and hope for the best until the next time the patient exhibit signs of another aggression.

Those who are in this situation knows the round-the-clock care they need do for both themselves and those who are affected. For the family of the patient, this scenario often leads to dysfunction because of the emotional strain brought by aggressive incidents. These are the cycle of struggles of those who have been affected, both the mentally-unstable patient with aggressive tendencies and their families.

Currently, there aren’t a lot of housing alternatives for people with special needs, especially if they have tendencies. In most cases, if ever they achieve the go signal for the special housing needs for their patients in terms of the paperwork, their families have to wait in line until the supervised housing found a room to accommodate a new patient.

Another alternative is by hiring home care teams such as case managers, health aides, and others. The only downside would be the financial expense that came along with their services.

With all of this information, it is clear that there is still more room for improvements when it comes with dealing with mental health crisis. The current solution is still just a short-term patch but hopefully, the government will find a way to deal with this with this as a long-term solution.
